By 1907 the great majority of the population of Hibbing was foreign born and consisted of Forty-three different nationality groups. And the education of their children was paramount. Thus, in 1918, Hibbing had the first Bookmobile in the nation. And Hibbing was one of the first cities in the nation to expand educational opportunities by opening a two-year college in 1916 that was located in the Hibbing High School. And then there is the simply magnificent Hibbing High School built in 1923 that President Coolidge has come to see. At the end of this rare clip is some current imagery.
